What We Believe

What We Believe

Scripture

We believe the Bible is the word of God, breathed out by the Holy Spirit and recorded through human authors. The truth of Scripture harmoniously agrees with itself from beginning to end, and is without error as it was originally written. Scripture is sufficient for all we need to know, and is the supreme authority for all of life.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21

God

We believe there is one God, existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God. God is the Creator and Designer of the universe and life. He is eternal, all-powerful, all-wise, and all-good.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, not an impersonal force. He seals each believer for salvation at the moment of true faith, indwells believers, and leads and empowers believers for lives of ministry.

Ephesians 1:13-14, John 16:13, Acts 1:8

Jesus

We believe Jesus is both fully God (uncreated, eternal, all-powerful, all-wise, all-good), and fully man, being born of a virgin, indwelled by the Holy Spirit, descended from David, and living a perfectly righteous life.

Galatians 4:4-5, Colossians 2:9, John 8:56-58

Atonement

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died an atoning sacrifice for our sins on the cross, and by His blood He washes us clean, giving us His righteousness and obtaining for us eternal redemption.

1 John 4:10, Romans 3:21-25, Hebrews 9:12, Galatians 3:13-14

Resurrection

We believe that after Jesus died, He was buried in a tomb and remained there for three days, but on the third day He rose, leaving the tomb empty. Over the next forty days He appeared first to a group of women, then His apostles, and then to more than 500 eyewitnesses, before He ascended into heaven, and in heaven He lives as our High Priest and Advocate.

Acts 2:29-31, 1 Corinthians 15:4-8, Luke 24:1-12

Condition of Mankind

We believe that mankind is made in the image of God, but is now corrupted through sin and is totally depraved, and in the necessity of regeneration, being born again of the Spirit.

Genesis 8:21, Psalm 51:5, Ecclesiastes 7:20, John 3:3

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart from our works or goodness, and is possessed permanently by all who have by faith received the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. However, true salvation will always produce fruit in a person’s life, which we can look to for assurance.

Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12-13, Matthew 13:18-23

Christ’s Return

We believe in the personal, imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that no one knows the day or the hour when He will return.

Matthew 24:30, Matthew 24:36, Revelation 19:11-16

Judgment

We believe in the bodily resurrection of every person who has ever lived, to the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and to the everlasting punishment of the unsaved.

1 Corinthians 15:12-32, Revelation 20:11-15
